Research Experience

  • SEPT 2024 - Present
    University of California, LA
    Research Student
    • Advisor: Prof. Konstantinos Kallas
    • Working on the automatic synthesis of tool code for LLM agents
    • The project allows developers to specify code for integrating databases and APIs in natural language, making it easier to build LLM agents.

Projects

  • APR 2024 - SEPT 2024
    Compass AI
Generative AI Agent for Automated Video Editing
    • Created an AI system to automatically edit short videos.
    • Experimented two methods:
      1. LLM-based Decision Making: Attempted to use a Large Language Model (LLM) to select relevant editing effects from a predefined set; however, this approach proved unviable as it required effects to be limited to the set.
      2. Code Generation for Effects: Explored generating custom editing effects directly with the LLM using example-based prompts, but the output did not achieve a human-like quality in editing.
  • MAR 2023 - JULY 2023
    Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Lending System
A platform for direct borrowing and lending between individuals without relying on traditional banks.
    • Nepal lacks P2P lending platforms such as LendenClub in India and LendingClub in the US, which prompted us to create a tailored model during our undergraduate studies
    • Invited by the Economic Research Department of Nepal Rastra Bank, the Central Bank of Nepal, to present our approach to their officials.

Work Experience

  • APR 2023 - MAR 2024
    Software Engineer
    Zakipoint Health
US based Healthcare company working in Big Data and AI analytics
    • Deployed Mistral 7B on company's cloud infrastructure to enable HIPAA-compliant use of large language models (LLMs)
    • Implemented LLM based document automation tool which reduced information extraction time from 45 minutes to 6 minutes with Human-in-the-Loop approach
    • Developed end-to-end automation for processing Machine Readable Files using PySpark and Elasticsearch, doubling workload capacity by enabling 24/7 server use
  • SEPT 2021 - APR 2023
    Jr. Software Engineer
    CodeHimalaya
Nepal based Fintech company working in Mobile Banking
    • Built a scalable API middleware for Core Banking Systems vendors using a multi-tenant architecture, enabling efficient data management for multiple clients
    • Implemented a secure centralized microservice for user authentication and access management, designed to authenticate requests for all downstream services.
    • Enhanced data security in a neo-banking project by developing a microservice, which tokenizes Personally Identifiable Information (PII) data before sending it to the data lake.

Education

  • 2018 - 2023
Bachelor of Engineering in Software Engineering
    Pokhara University, Nepal
    • GPA 3.99 (A=4.0)
    • Awarded with Dean's List 2023
    • Mentored junior members and led programming sessions as an active member of the Nepal Open Source Klub (NOSK)
